“Nothing is perfect and nothing is eternal.”
This project seeks to convey the beauty and complexity of what can be destroyed or changed in an instant.
In it, I decided to explore the concept of vulnerability and subtlety of matter.
The project was created using the double exposure technique, AI technology, and expired Soviet Tasma film from 1986. Initially, the images of fairy-tale creatures were generated using artificial intelligence. They are a symbiosis of reality and fantasy, combining well-known features and bizarre, mystical elements. This was then re-shot on film, which added grain to the image, returning digital creations to the analog world. This allows the viewer to feel the tactile quality of the image, adding a nostalgic and material component. At the final stage, an additional layer of cracks and damage was applied to enhance the effect of fragility. This method symbolizes the decay, instability and ephemerality of beauty, which, like photography itself, is subject to destruction by time and external factors.
The project thus becomes a metaphor for the vulnerability and instability not only of the physical world, but also of the digital reality that we create. Even perfect digital images created by artificial intelligence become subject to decay and destruction when they are translated into a physical format. This approach also reflects ideas about the cyclical nature of life, technology and art. What was created by digital intelligence returns to the material world, becomes real and is again subject to decay, like everything that exists in physical reality.
This photo project aims to provoke the viewer to reflect on the fragility of our reality - both physical and digital. It emphasizes the beauty of imperfection and temporality, inviting a dialogue about how art, technology and nature can interact and interpenetrate.
