Sorrow for a Lost Paradise
Medium
Photography
Year
2025 – in progress
This is a research and art project about nostalgia, the inevitability of change and the loss of harmony. Similar to the biblical story of the expulsion from paradise, it explores the moment when the past becomes unattainable, balancing between personal memories and a sense of loss.
The visual structure of the series is built on the contrast of archival photographs and their gradual destruction. The second layer is superimposed microscopic images of toxic substances - mold, fungi, heavy metals, industrial chemicals, radiation - symbolizing the erosion of memory. Fragments of scotch with the names of these substances enhance the feeling of documentation of disappearance. The final stage of the transformation was re-shooting on film, which emphasized the transience and transience of time.
This project is an attempt to explore how invisible processes that affect the body are reflected in consciousness, memory and the sense of time, combining science and art.
